two steps forward, two steps back

Lately, the little man has been doing a whole lot of this:

After many of the signs and behaviors began to resurface that he'd shown a couple of months ago, I thought it might be his acid reflux issues yet again. So today, we took a trip to see Dr. Whiting, who prescribed another medication to help with digestion, which in turn should help with the reflux. He'll also start having a little apple juice every day and some rice cereal. He's growing up and it's time for me to stop saying I have a newborn.

Even though the appointment was at his witching hour this afternoon, he did fantastic. A healthy, strong baby, the doctor exclaimed-- music to his mother's ears. He's had quite a growth spurt, measuring 27 1/2 inches. That's 1 1/2 inches in a month! He's also gained 12 oz. in that time, so he's up to 20 lbs, 12 oz. We're going to have to pack the infant car seat away within the next couple of weeks, I'm afraid.

If all goes as planned, we'll be able to see a difference with the medication within a day or two.
The hope is that he's go back to a whole lot of this:

una bella riunione

Cute Sorella Hurst and her adorable Tennyson were in town, so Emery and I got to meet up with them for our first play date (I felt like such a mom!). The last time we were together was three years ago, pre-kiddies, eating at some swanky restaurant in DC... so we had a lot of catching up to do!

All the fall colors were amazing.

And like always, Emery loved being outside with the wind rustling through his hair.

We stayed for an hour and a half without any complaint from the little one.

morning walk

One of Nate's favorite duties as a dad is to take the little one out for a walk on Sunday mornings, allowing me 20 minutes of Kelly time. This particular stroll included the amazing BYU hat (as it was a bit nippy) although a gorgeous blue sky was visible, along with a few fall flowers.

It turns out Emery wasn't nearly as enthusiastic about the excursion as Max was.

nostrils are relative

Aunt Holly came for a long weekend to get her fix of the baby.

They hung out.

They bonded over bottles.

Holly told me that Emery has her nostrils.

I'm just happy that someone else loves him as much as I do, nostrils or not.

jump around

Thanks to Uncle Bobby and Aunt Sheryl for the awesome jumper.

It's quite intriguing.

He hasn't quite grasped that he can control the bouncing--

and he would rather be in someone's arms most of the time,

but it's a great place to hang out while mommy's busy...
it seems he enjoys it more each day, I promise!
