Daddy took care of the bath, mommy did the feeding and rocking.
The baby did the sleeping. For about 4 minutes.
Then the baby did the crying. And screaming. And wailing. For 2 horribly long hours and 21 nail biting minutes.
We sat and waited, glued to one of the best purchases a nervous new mother can make.
We watched him turn 90 degrees so that his head was pressing against the side of the pack 'n play, as he wedged his way into position.
We cried as we tried to console one another.
Finally, peace. He whimpered a little as he drifted into a hard sleep.
We crept into the room and watched him in person.
I hoped that he would still smile at me in the morning.
After a little coaxing upon awakening at 8:30am, he grinned.
