Cook-Out

Brooklyn and my dad built a firepit in their front yard, so we've been able to have lots of BBQs overlooking Utah Valley. On Friday night, Erin brough Susannah and Jack Henry to one...

Baby Party

On Sunday, Emery had his baby blessing. Our ward was unexpecetedly split in two that day (we had 700 ward members!!), so we had the blessing in the evening at my parents house. Grandma Karen and Grandpa Wynn flew in from Washington State and Great Aunt Holly came from Maryland. It was special to have so many family and friends that love Emery all in one place.

As for the title of this blog, I asked Susannah why we were all at Sue's house. She said it was for a baby party. I asked which baby and she said "Hemery". Her new little brother's name is Jack Henry and that sounds pretty close to our little one's name... too confusing!

Liberty Land

On a hot July day last week, Emery and I met my parents and Brooklyn at Liberty Land, the new amusement park in Lehi. After eating a stale pretzel and paying $5 to ride the water bumper cars with Brooklyn (which was totally worth it!), she sauntered around the race track:

and then tried her hand at recording her cousin:

Exactly.

While changing his diaper today during our visit with the Jiles, Emery wizzed all over before I could react fast enough. Susannah was sitting next to me watching and said, "It's just like Seven Peaks!"

Date Night

While still pregnant, Nate and I found out that The Police would be in town during their concert tour. I remember thinking-- "No big deal to leave him with Grandma... the baby will be six weeks old by then and that would be SO fun." Um, yeah. After some cajoling from my husband and tears on the way to Usana, I'm happy to report that my husband and I had our first real date night yesterday. Scary, but so good! We only stayed for about 8 of their songs because I was freaking out we'd be stuck in traffic if we didn't leave before the other 15,000 people did... but it was still worth it. The only thing I'm sad we didn't do was buy the $20 Police Reunited Tour onesie for Emery.

Once Grandpa sent this picture:

I enjoyed myself, like in this picture:

Ouch

Obviously, this hurt me more than it hurt him. I went to check on him in his swing and found him in a precarious position...

The Bottle

I'd heard horror stories of breastfed babies not being able to take a bottle, so we were prepared for the worst. Seems it was unfounded nervousness, though-- he sucked down 3 oz. in about 30 seconds!

Nathan did the honors:

The Grasshopper

Last week, Brooklyn came for a visit and was a big help to me! Max the puppy loves her and she spent most of the morning in the backyard playing with him and giving him much needed attention. At one point, she yelled at me to come to the screen door and I thought something was sorely wrong. However, she'd caught a grasshopper and wanted to share-- it was a pretty amazing sight!

One month old!

It's hard to believe that Emery arrived one month ago today. I fall in love with him more every day. Here's a couple of videos from the last four weeks...
